Who can I talk to and where to next?
There are usually more applications than there are positions and
candidates are strongly advised to ensure that a legible,
up-to-date CV accompanies the application along with any relevant
supporting documents. The candidate must state clearly his/her
preferred sub-discipline in Pathology in rank order if more than
one sub-discipline is being applied for, or "general Pathology" if
indeed the intent is to train in all sub-disciplines. Candidates
may be required to present for an interview.
When considering applying for a Pathology training position,
please be aware that candidates will be ranked as follows (with
preference given to NZ graduates):
- Current Pathology trainees in the Auckland region, showing
satisfactory progress (Registrars who elect to change their
sub-specialty after appointment will not necessarily be given
preference over new applicants)
- Joint trainees (4 schemes) - FRACP/FRCPA showing satisfactory
progress
- Candidates for pathology who wish to transfer to the Auckland
region
- RACP trainees with core requirements for laboratory
training
- Other trainees, for example, those in other clinical training
schemes who desire pathology experience, e.g., Immunology,
Dermatology.
